Making the most of a balcony garden

Turning an outdoor balcony into a garden does not have to involve a lot of effort if you plan out your garden before you actually start the project, and take full advantage of the many different plants that can grow out of containers. Here are just a few tips to help sure you make the most out of your balcony garden.

First of all, optimise the space on your balcony by utilising hanging and shelving baskets so that you can make more room for your garden versus what will fit in a planter on the ground.  choosing smaller, dwarf plant varieties also means that you can fit more in. For instance, if you choose a dwarf cherry tomato plant you can easily place it in a hanging basket whereas a regular tomato plant is going to quickly eat up space on the balcony. (more…)
